What a great night we had on Tuesday at the awards ceremony. Great food, great company, and a great summary of the year from Nick. Congratulations to all who received awards, especially the big award winners – Tony Slade for best newcomer to competition, Sue Vernon for Photographic achievement, and Colin Close for services to the society.
An event like that does not just happen – it takes lots of planning and contributions from many people, so special thanks to Ele for organizing the food, Sheila Billingham for the home made fruit cake, Linda for organizing the raffle, Nick for the end-of year slideshow and presentations, and all the many others that helped with setup and cleanup on the day.
Remember that there are now no more meetings at Avoncroft until September – please don’t turn up there on Tuesday! Instead, why not come along to the first event of the summer program, a canal-side walk starting at the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge. Meet at the Bonded Warehouse Car Park at 7pm. If you are planning to go, a quick note to Ele would be helpful just so she knows how many to expect. I hope to see you there.
Richard
