A busy week for the summer programme started off with the annual Summer BBQ on Tuesday. We could not have asked for better weather, and there were over 20 members enjoying the warm summer night and the warm BPS company until late into the evening. Thanks to everyone involved in making this a success, especially to David for providing transport for the grills. Thanks also to everyone that helped me cope with my glut of plums and greengages!

On Thursday night a dozen or so members met up in Droitwich, along with several hundred motorbikes (and one scooter – brave guy!). Some colourful characters and lots of polished chrome on display, and everyone very happy to be photographed. Thanks to Peter Marrs for organizing this outing.

As if that was not enough, on Friday evening a large contingent met up at the Black Country Museum – unfortunately I was not able to attend but by all reports it was another successful and enjoyable evening. Thanks to Helen Cox for organizing this one.

Next week on Tuesday is the Chinese Meal in Evesham – David Ward is organizing this, and has sent out details. Please get in touch with him if you are planning to attend and have not already done so.

On Saturday, August 23rd, David Jellie is leading an outing to Cannock Chase. See his email for full details – I have pasted a snippet from it below:

Meeting time – 10-00 am

Punchbowl Car Park – What3Words  –  champions.nursery.star

Address Milford, ST17 0XA however the postcode covers a large area

Cannock Chase is a lovely area and I’m certainly looking forward to it.

It’s also time to start looking forward to the final event of the Summer Programme – the High Street Stall on Saturday August 30th. As usual we will be looking for volunteers to help man the stall, as well as prints to display to pull the punters in. More details to follow nearer the time but please make a note of the day if you are able to help out for an hour or two.

The competitions secretary and other committee members have been busy over the past few weeks sorting out which members are allocated to which competition sections now that we have moved to three rather than two classes. I hope by now all the emails have gone out indicating the allocations, so look out for an email from Dennis Redmond.

Finally, a reminder that you should have seen emails from Tony Hawksbee regarding renewals for next year. As I type this it has reminded me to pay my membership, so that’s at least ONE member we have confirmed for next year… but it’s always nice to see the numbers going up before the season starts properly in September.

That’s it for now.
