It was good to see so many of you back at Avoncroft Arts Centre last Tuesday for the open night that kicks off the new season. A special welcome to those joining us for the first time, and to those returning to BPS after a long absence.
One returnee of particular note was former chairman Keith Woolford – unfortunately just a flying visit rather than a plan to rejoin, but he asked me to say hi to everyone that remembers him from years gone by but was not there last week to see him in person.
Thanks to everyone that has signed up for the tea rota. I believe that we have all evenings covered now up until Christmas…
Pixaroo is now open for entries for the first PDI competition of the year – you still have just over a week to get your entries in. If you are having any trouble logging in or uploading images, then this Tuesday’s “Q&A” session will be the perfect opportunity to get them sorted out.
Speaking of which, if anyone has any particular questions they would like to see discussed on Tuesday, then please let me know. We can also cover any questions raised on the night but a bit of warning might help us give better answers…
In addition to the Q&A session, there will also be a sales table, so bring along any unwanted photography (and related) gear, and some cash if you want to grab a bargain. If you are selling, you can choose to donate anything from 15% to 100% of the sales price to club funds.
Looking further ahead to our first model night, I mentioned last week that we were planning something a little bit different. Our first model will be Ele’s dog Lester – you have all probably seen photos of him in Ele’s competition entries. However, we could do with a second model for the second half of the evening, so if anyone has a well-trained dog (or rabbit, or other pet – probably not a horse…) that they think would make a good model then please let us know.
Remember to take a look at the exhibition in Bromsgrove Library if you get a chance – it looks really rather splendid.
Finally, a reminder that the refreshments this year have gone up in price (to reflect our increasing costs). After much discussion, the committee decided the best way was to change the price to £1 for drinks and 50p for biscuits. We’ll try to have change available but it will make things easier if you can remember to bring 50ps along…
Richard
