Another great night on Tuesday. Who would have thought that working with canine models would be such fun. Scruffy, ignoring instructions, wandering around everywhere, and motivated only by biscuits… but enough about the photographers – the dogs behaved perfectly. I hope everyone has sent a selection of shots to Ele and Alison.

Den and I stayed behind after the shoot on Tuesday and spent a while calibrating the projector. Everything has been reset to default settings prior to calibration, and we have made sure that the projector and PC both agree about whether they are trying to display HDR. Hopefully the results should be better – the proof will be at our print competition on the 14th. Remember that Tuesday is the last opportunity to hand in prints (and enter the corresponding PDIs) for that competition.

As I type this I am busy sorting through photos from a fantastic morning in Pepper Wood shooting fungi (and the occasional elephant) with a dozen or so BPS members. Many thanks to Anne and David for organizing this trip – great to see the spirit of the summer programme continuing into the main season – let’s do it again soon!

This coming Tuesday we have a practical session on Light Painting led by Al Haden. Remember to bring a tripod if you have one (I may be able to bring a few spares), and look up your camera to see how you can turn off exposure simulation in your viewfinder (if you are using a mirrorless camera). I’m sure Al will provide some more detailed instructions before (and on) the night.
