I usually start off my newsletter saying how great the previous week’s meeting was, and that I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did… I’ll have to think of a different opening this time…
Unfortunately last week we had a perfect storm of audio issues, internet issues, and illness issues combine to make it impossible to bring you the promised presentation from Tesni Ward. While the illness issues may not be preventable, the others should be, and we will make sure we learn from what happened last week and put steps in place to try to make sure they don’t happen again – whether that requires new equipment, different methods, better documentation on how to make things work, or some combination of the above.
On the plus side, we have been able to find a spare slot in the program to reschedule the presentation from Tesni on March 17th. Better still, hopefully that means I won’t miss it – I was really looking forward to this one, and very sad when I was too ill to attend (no, I did not sabotage the internet connection, honest).
Coming up this week we have the Bromsgrove Challenge Cup, where we welcome photographers from four other local societies to join us at Avoncroft Arts to share our best work in a spirit of friendly competition. Judging will be by Bob Goode ARPS. There will be a raffle, so bring your pennies – I believe tea and coffee are free so you can spend extra on the raffle… We have been able to secure access to the overflow car park so hopefully some of the parking pressure should be relieved – though with a large attendance expected this week it will still be sensible to park as efficiently as we can.
This week will also be the final opportunity to hand in prints for the 3rd Print competition on January 27th – see Den’s emails for more details.
That’s it for now – I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, and cheering on Team BPS
Richard
