15.03.2026 Vocal Point

We had a good evening last Tuesday for the 4th Print competition, with lots of fine images and a good judge giving lots of constructive feedback. Congratulations to all that entered, and especially to those that were awarded “top marks”.

Prior to that the “Show and Tell” gave a variety of members the opportunity to talk about an image (or two) that meant something to them, and tell a bit about the story behind it. Some interesting images and backstories.

Coming up this Tuesday we have the rescheduled Zoom presentation from Tesni Ward entitled “Working with Wildlife” – let’s hope the gremlins are all too busy celebrating St Patrick’s Day to bother disrupting the meeting this time around. Do gremlins celebrate St Patrick’s day, or is that only leprechauns?

Tesni is a highly regarded wildlife photographer, known for her thoughtful and ethical approach to photographing animals in their natural environments. Her work combines strong technical skill with a real respect for wildlife, and she’s particularly good at explaining how and why images work – not just showing the final results. It should be an enjoyable evening.

I know a few of you will be visiting the Photography Show at the NEC this week, so be sure to enjoy your new toys!

Finally, can I put another reminder/request out there to PLEASE not carry on conversations during the presentations/judging sessions. It’s very distracting for all other members and can ruin the enjoyment of the club. The occasional “wow” or “I like that” might be hard to avoid, but please save your conversations for the tea break and/or the end. Our voices are not as quiet as we think they are!

That’s it for this week

Richard
