Two excellent sessions last Tuesday!
We started off with Ele’s “Judging tryout” session, where Ele got to try out being a judge and a dozen or so members got a great critique on their images. I didn’t get to pay full attention unfortunately as I was focussed on getting everything set up for the main session, but from the bits I heard Ele is going to be a very fair, helpful and popular judge if she decides to join the MCPF circuit.
The main session was something a bit different, featuring a Zoom presentation from Tesni Ward entitled “Wildlife Photography Masterclass”. Fortunately the gremlins stayed away this time, and we were treated to a fascinating insight into her 4 foundations of wildlife photography – learn (about your subject), location (how and where to find your subjects, light (and in particular, backlight, front light and side light and which is best for what occasion), and finally composition (perhaps think “lines” to make up the four “L”s, though it’s not just about lines). I don’t know about anyone else but I was on Google Earth hunting for badger setts when I got home!
Coming up this week we have a Studio Night, kindly organized for us by Mark Bennett, featuring model Rosie Lee from Stourbridge. I think she has modelled for us before, a few years ago, so some members may remember her. Should be a good night. There will be no early session.
As I mentioned last week at the meeting, our Programme Secretary Jan Harris has decided that 11 years is long enough, and it’s time for someone else to have a turn. If anyone feels this is something they might be able to take on, please talk to Jan or any other committee member at one of our meetings. Without a programme secretary, there will be no meetings…
That’s all I have for now
Richard.
