10.05.2026 Vocal Point

An excellent presentation from Steve Varman on Tuesday seems to have gone down very well with all members, based on the feedback I heard on the night and from members since then. Nice to hear from Steve that he enjoyed the night too – indeed, that Bromsgrove is his favourite club to present to! I think that says a lot about how friendly and welcoming BPS is.

I thought it was one of the best presentations I can remember for quite some time, and I would certainly look forward to a future visit from him. I was sad to miss his previous visit to BPS.

Coming up this Tuesday we have a model night, which has been organized by Mark Bennett and Jenny Webster – many thanks to both of them.

We plan to use the stage for a display of some of Colin’s work, with an opportunity to share thoughts about what he meant to each of us. There will be a book of remembrance for anyone that wants to put down anything on paper. We don’t have access to a lot of his prints or artwork at present since his family do not live locally, but we will show what we can (if anyone has any, please bring them along), as well as PDIs from his competition entries over the years. We will be opening up at 7pm for an early session to give a chance to enjoy Colin’s work prior to the main model session, but I anticipate that the display will continue in parallel with the model shoot through the evening. We are going to have to play it by ear a little bit – it’s not something we have really tried to do before.

Finally, please remember that Tuesday is the deadline for nominations and motions for the AGM.
