The biggest gathering of BPS members this week was for Colin’s funeral, and the subsequent wake at Bromsgrove Golf Centre. I think there were at least 25 members and former members there, including 7 current and former BPS chairs and/or presidents. A moving ceremony and a fitting send-off.As mentioned in last week’s Vocal Point, we did manage to arrange another outing this week to see the orchids in Pepper Wood (thanks, Sarah). It’s a little bit of a trek through the wood to get to the field with the orchids in, but well worth it – there seem to be more every year!
Yesterday in Bromsgrove Town Centre I spotted at least 3 BPS members among the crowd watching the Court Leet procession and ceremonies. It was quite a spectacle, and the drummers leading the dignitaries were excellent.
We are still a little light on summer programme activities for the coming week, so please do step in if you know about anything going on – or any place you would like to go – to lead a group. More will be added to the website and/or notified via the WhatsApp group as people volunteer.
Speaking of the website, the details of next year’s programme have now been added (thanks, David) so if you want a sneak preview of what to expect next season, go up and have a look!
That’s it for now – I hope everyone manages to stay cool in the coming heatwave…
Richard
