While Richard is taking a well-earned break, he has asked me to send out Vocal Point this week.
Last Tuesday we had an excellent presentation from Den on entering club competitions. It was well put together and very informative. We all had something to gain from it – even those of us who have been entering for some time. Our newer and less experienced members will have gained a lot from it.
It has been a busy weekend for getting out and about. Today I went to the Steam Rally at Stoke Prior along with 4 other members. The name is slightly deceptive as steam vehicles only cover a small part of what there was to photograph. There were plenty of vintage and classic vehicles from cars to combine harvesters, tractors and classic fairground attractions. We have seen this event grow over the years and there was a large turnout of spectators and participants. It’s always a pleasure to be with people who are passionate about their hobbies and interests – it doesn’t just apply to photography.
I believe that there was also a free open weekend at Avoncroft this weekend. Whilst the sun was a little bit bright at times, the weather in general was perfect for getting out and about. I look forward to seeing the photographic results from both events.
Talking of results, we have our first monthly competition of the year this week. It is PDI with Colour and Mono sections, and our judge is Peter Turner – not a judge that I am familiar with, but it is important to see new judges on the circuit rather than the same old faces. I believe that we have 108 entries so it is a full evening. We will definitely need to get off to a prompt start, so make sure that you are in your seats and ready to go for 8-00
Good luck to all taking part and I will see you on Tuesday
David
