BA (Hons) Photography

 
Mark was born in Wolverhampton in 1970 and was introduced to Photography by his father Anthony Roland Wilbrey. This interest continued to develop during his school years alongside his interest in the ‘Arts’ in general.

Holding his first Photographic exhibition in 1986 for Wolverhampton Arts Week, with over 100 images on display of the local environment; accompanied by contemporary music, composed by Mark, of sounds from scrap car parts, and industrial sounds recorded by him. This composition in-fact was, until recently, used in teaching methods at Warwick University.

Mark has quickly established himself as a highly skilled Photographer, gaining professional commissions for commercial businesses specializing in events and high end product photography. This was to run alongside his personal work which includes a wide variety of subjects, and a special interest in traditional film and alternative photographic techniques.

Mark describes his personal photographic practice as a Social Documentary photographer recording significant events that will be used as a photographic record for future generations. Mark has a particular interest in the strange relationship of objects and people and would probably describe himself as a surrealist.

Mark is also a photographic tutor and has recently established his own training company.  Working with Pixapro lighting, he is now demonstrating a wide range of photographic skills across the UK. You will also see Mark demonstrating at National Photographic events and he has already been booked for ‘The Photography Show’ at the NEC in 2015.
