Dear All

I think we are all still on a high from the excitement on Tuesday .

Well this Tuesday should be as exciting with David Jellie on at 7pm , with the effects of lighting and lighting techniques . Light being the key factor in our photography this should prove to be very interesting and informative.

The main event is the 3rd print competition judged by Paddy Ruske .

I hope we have another good attendance in the Hall and I look forward to seeing some excellent images .

See you all there ,

A very nice chilly bright morning ,perfect for a walk in the woods .

This Tuesday is our very first Bromsgrove Challenge Cup, we will be welcoming members from Hagley, Kempsey, Redditch and Solihull Photographic Societies. With our judge Louise Hill and plenty of excellent images to view, it promises to be an enjoyable evening . Louise is a very experienced judge with a lovely manner ,so I am sure she will find a worthy winner . If you want to score along on Tuesday, David sent out a scoresheet that you can print off .

Also we are running a raffle so please bring some pennies for a raffle ticket . Refreshments are complimentary so treat yourself to a raffle ticket or two with your tea money .

If I could have some help setting up from 7pm that would be great please .

We may need some one to help on the welcome desk – have I any volunteers please ?

Please come along to support Bromsgrove and make our guests feel welcome .It is a great opportunity to meet like minded people .7.45 for 8pm start

At the end of the month we will have a sales table on Practical Night .You are invited to bring items for the table –

You can either – donate them so all proceeds go to the club OR label them with your name and  the price  .(15% of this will be retained for  the club funds ) please take these items home with you at end of the evening at storage is very limited .This is an ideal way to get rid of unwanted Christmas presents and raise money for the club.

Don’t forget entries for the print competition close on Tuesday night .

Thank you to Tony for entertaining everyone last week, and stepping in to fill the early session , the feedback was excellent .

See you all Tuesday

With such a great start to the year with the Party on Tuesday we can be looking forward to all that is in store at the club.

This Tuesday we have a double bill of Tony Gervis , the early class will be looking at projects and finding pictures in everyday places . Something Tony excels at .

The main event is a talk from his travels , if previous presentations are anything to go by we will be entertained in many ways with images and stories of his travels . I am certainly looking forward to it .

The print competition is open so please look at entering your Colour or Nature images .

Wednesday night is an evening at Smethwick -from Colin’s email  Smethwick International Exhibition of Photography on Wednesday January 11th -doors open 7pm with time to view 250 prints before 8pm projected mono, colour acceptances and Nature Awards.

See Exhibition Dates and Tickets – Smethwick International Exhibition of Photography for details. The exhibition opens the first full w/e in January and tickets purchased in advance recommended for w/e visit.. Our Wednesday visit will be ok for pay at the door.

Venue is minutes from J2 of M5 – The Old Schoolhouse, Churchbridge, Oldbury B69 2AS (historically they met in Smethwick and kept the name when moving to current excellent facilities which they own).

We have had some interesting information sent through from David about looking at why you have taken the image and whether it is conveys your expectations . An interesting read for sure .

See you all on Tuesday

Tuesday 8pm brings the Knockout Competition , always a fun , light hearted evening so please do come along . Prints will be accepted on the night if brought early so the glamorous assistants have time to organise them .

Set Subjects -There are a couple of competitions coming up in the New Year where you have to submit an image within a set subject -Nick mentioned this Tuesday ,just in case you didn’t make a note –Perspective   and    Ugly.

I am sure all those who attended on Tuesday will agree with me ,what an interesting and different evening we had . We had some gremlins but all came good in the end .

So in the New Year we plan to repeat the practical side of this , with everyone having a good view and being able to be involved .So please bear this mind when recycling your plastic bottles ,save any coloured ones we can use .

And any lights ,film wrap or the odd bicycle wheel !

I attended the print workshop at Smethwick along with several other members , this was very interesting and eye opening with regard to printing. I have on the back of this manged to print an image -Way to go !

This leads us to this week – and our 2nd print competition with some stunning images I am assured .

At 7pm David will be continuing the Roger Lewis Foundation Course .

So plenty to look forward to ,and with some winter sunshine ,there are still good opportunities to get out and get some nice images .

See you all on Tuesday ,

Ele
