13/02/2022 Vocal Point

Hi all

There’s a lot to cover this week, so please be patient with me and read to the end.

At our last meeting we had the MCPF portfolio. We were well represented with a large number of images from around 10 of our members – including a medal for Andy Kent. The quality of images was high throughout the portfolio and hopefully, you got plenty of inspiration for the year ahead. Once again apologies to those members who tried to watch it on Zoom. The gremlins struck again – this time all the software worked as it should, but we had an extremely poor broadband connection so we were unable to give you the entertainment that we had planned.

The subject of our Zoom service was discussed at our committee meeting this week. The ongoing pandemic appears to be improving rapidly, however, we recognise that a significant number of members are not confident about returning to physical meetings just yet. We will continue with our Zoom service until further notice, however, please note that we will not interrupt a speaker or judge if problems arise – as happened at our last competition night.

You will all have received an invitation from our Publicity Officer Anne to submit prints for the Library exhibition which is coming up for the month of March. This is a chance to exhibit your work to the wider public. Any subject matter – that is suitable for public display – is welcomed, from all members. We would like each member to submit at least 2 mounted prints and will guarantee that at least one will be displayed. Please support us in this opportunity to promote ourselves to the wider public. All the relevant details are in Anne’s email.

Finally – at our meeting last week, we ran a surprise fire drill This is something that we need to do on a regular basis. We were lucky with the weather and it seemed to run smoothly. Thank you everyone for your cooperation on the evening. I have attached a copy of our Fire Evacuation Procedures and would ask every member to familiarise themselves with this.

This week we have our 4th PDI Competition. Good luck to everyone who has entered.

Best wishes

David
