Pete’s Borneo Expedition

We have amongst our midst a true madman possibly bordering on the insane, although I say that with the greatest of respect and admiration. New member Peter Lopeman, ex-Teacher of Art and Photography at North Bromsgrove High School is travelling to Borneo in January as part of a Raleigh International project to photograph the charity’s work in helping to provide sustainable and safe drinking water for families living in very poor conditions. The trip is over a 13 week period and apart from having to fund his own travelling, medical and living costs he needs to raise a further £2,000 towards the project. Peter needs not just lots of luck but financial help as well and it was felt this is something where we can get behind him as a club and help find some extra finance he needs to brave this very worthwhile project.

To start we will be putting up a collection box where you can donate the odd 50p to £50 or maybe you would like to donate some surplus items to sell on the previously mentioned for-sale-table .

If you have any ideas/suggestions on fundraising please let me know.

Peter is doing a one hour environmental portrait session (people or pets) with images supplied on disc for just £35, could this be an opportunity for a pro. photo of you and your partner/family on the run up to Christmas?

He is also doing a Beginners Course in Photography at Tesco Store Community room, Cradley Heath, B64 5DF on Saturday 21st and 28th of November and Saturday 12th December from 12-2pm for just £5 per person. For more details you can contact Peter on 07907787374/peterl3144@aol.com.

I am hoping we can follow Peter via the power of the internet on this worthy and epic challenge and hopefully listen to his equally epic tales upon his return, on life as a Documentary Photographer under the most challenging of conditions.
