24/01/2021 Vocal Point

Hi all

Well there is certainly plenty of drama with the weather today. Once it is safe to venture out there should be some stunning images to take. Saturday morning was especially good for photography – a wonderful combination of snow, sunshine, mist and glorious light – the type of light that is quite rare in this country. I hope you all got a chance to take advantage of these conditions.

Congratulations to everyone who received a place in the PDI competition last Tuesday. Well done to everyone who entered – as ever the standard was very high. It was especially encouraging to see a high entry in the novice section – both in number and quality.

This week we have our first presentation of 2021. Tal Chohan is a specialist Wildlife photographer. The title of his talk is The Deer and the Tiger. I have had a sneak preview on his website and I know that we are in for a treat.

Finally – a request. Most of you will be familiar with our display boards – currently in use in the High Street, and also in regular use at our meetings for print display. Our fabric boards that use velcro attachments have seen better days – as a result some of the prints have dropped off the boards. We have put this right but we have limited access to the shop if further problems arise. In addition, our wooden framed boards are distorting. Does anyone know where we may be able to get replacement display boards at little cost. I know that this is asking a lot, however, in the current business climate there may be businesses that have boards that they cannot use. If so, we could be very pleased to give them a home. If you do know of any, please contact me directly on my email address.

See you all Tuesday

Best wishes

David
