13/02/2021 Vocal Point

Hi all

We can be very proud of Bromsgrove PS for our performance in the Six Societies competition last Tuesday. To finish 1 point of first place behind a very strong entry from Droitwich is a very positive result. I know that we suffered some individual disappointments with images scoring less than they have done in previous events, however, as most of us know – another night, another judge, another result. Well done everyone and to the selection committee for our entries. It is also worth noting that we made up over 50% of the audience out of 4 societies – we have great strength in depth for the future.

Looking ahead, we have 3 evenings that should prove to be very entertaining. This week we have our Best of the Best PDI competition – a new standalone competition in response to the demands of lockdown. On 23 February our new/returning member Andy Kent will be presenting – Title: My photography journey. Description: HDR, Light painting, SCUBA, mixed with landscape wildlife, still life, and my own lockdown project….. from 8 years ago. Whilst Andy is new to many of our more recent members – including myself, he is a very skilled photographer and this should be a fascinating evening.

I will also give you advance notice of the first week in March. On Wednesday 3rd March we are participating in an interclub event called Show Me Yours which will include presentations from 5 of our members. This will be hosted by Cwmbran PS. Please note that we will be on Welsh time and the meeting will start at 7-30 rather than our normal 8-00. Then – on Thursday 5th March – we will be taking part in the annual Five a Side competition hosted by Stourbridge PS. As you can see, we have two meetings already that week, and because of this we will not hold our normal Tuesday evening meeting at Bromsgrove on the 2nd March.

So – a lot to take in this week. See you all on Tuesday.

Best wishes

David
