Hi all

Well, we certainly started the new season with a bang last week. Our Open Evening was very well attended and there was a real buzz in the room. Even better, we had nine guests attend who had a very strong interest in Bromsgrove Photographic Society. We seem certain to pick up some new members from this evening. Many thanks to everyone who worked hard to make the evening a success – there was a lot of work involved in setting up and taking down at the end.

This week, we have our first Members Night of the year. We will make use of this night to look at the year ahead – both our main events and the early sessions. We will also take an opportunity to look back – due to coronavirus we were unable to hold our traditional Awards night last year. We plan to make these awards at the meeting this week. So, if you were placed in any of last year’s competitions, then now is the time to collect your recognition.

In addition to our main meeting this week, we are hoping to run our first Early Session of the year at 7-00 pm.There is a small doubt about this and we may be unable to do this as planned. We will get confirmation to you by Monday evening. For anyone who would prefer not to attend our physical meetings at this stage, we also intend to make the early session and main meeting available on Zoom. This will be the first time that we have tried this, so fingers crossed that the gremlins will stay away. A Zoom invite to members will follow in due course.

On the subject of membership, now is the time to get those membership forms to our Treasurer. You have all come to recognise the benefits of your membership, and we always strive to give you maximum value within our society.

Finally, you will be pleased to hear that the plans for our exhibition at Bromsgrove Library are coming together nicely. We have a small sub-committee organising the event which is scheduled to start on 15th September. The prints have been selected – we had submissions from 32 members – a tremendous achievement for our society. We have also selected at least one print from everyone who submitted their work. We will have at least 50 prints on display – the final number will be decided by hanging space when we get full access to the display boards. This promises to be a great promotion for us.

I hope to see you all on Tuesday.

Best wishes

David
