I received the following report about last Sunday’s model shoot at Avoncroft from Sheila on behalf of Jenny Webster:

“A MonoModel shoot was held for  BPS members  on 16th August at Avoncroft.  10 members participated, just the right number to allow for all photographers  to get good images from several different angles and positions.  It was amazing and unusual to have so many photographers concentrating so hard during shooting that conversation was non-existent.
Models Rosie and Adam seamlessly managed 5 costume changes during the warm up session. Rosie hardly stood still for any length of time, changing positions and actions frequently, ensuring that everyone had opportunities to get good shots. The refreshment break, in an atmosphere of relaxed camaraderie enabled members to have a catch up.

During the 2nd phase Models produced images depicting figures from Hamlet, Phantom of the Opera, Cruella de Ville, Harlequin. 

A staggering number of costumes and props had been sourced by Jenny (Charity shops galore), cleaned, washed and pressed well in advance of the event.  Jenny put in so much hard work in organising this event, which was recognised by the models. Their email to Jenny :

“Hi Jenny,

Adam and I just wanted to send you a massive thank you for yesterday! We were made to feel so welcome and looked after. You’re all a delight to work with. And the event was so well organised and handled, you were absolutely brilliant!

I posted a reel of the two ‘leotard’ sets on Facebook and Instagram and people absolutely love it! Let me know if there’s a way I can share the videos with you.

A few people asked for my email address after the shoot, would you mind passing it onto everyone please? We’d both love to see some of the results if people are happy to share them.

Yesterday (Saturday) was a busy day for BPS members as we held the annual stall on the High Street to try to raise awareness of the society among potential new members. Many thanks to all members who turned up to help (and to have a chat – it’s a very sociable event!), and especially to David and Anne for their help organizing and setting up, and Helen who was there for the whole day. Many hands made light work of the setup and particularly the putting away – thanks to everyone. We had quite a few potential new members stop by and take information – the proof will be in a couple of weeks when we see if anyone turns up to the opening night!

In the middle of the display, I popped over to Avoncroft Arts Centre to represent BPS in their 80th birthday celebrations.

We are still on the lookout for additional prints for two upcoming exhibitions – in Bromsgrove Library for the month of September, and at the Artrix shortly afterwards (the Artrix exhibition is particularly looking for images matching the theme of “Seasons”). The Library exhibition will be put up on September 1st, so if you have any prints for that you’ll have to drop them off with David (or me) before then. Prints for the Artix can I believe be brought along to the opening night.

The next big day in the BPS calendar is our opening night, on September the 1st. Always a fun evening and often very busy, with potential new members checking us out and existing members reconnecting after the summer break. I look forward to seeing you all there.
