A great evening on Tuesday at the event formerly known as BBQ – around 20 members present and everyone had a good time as far as I can tell. I don’t think we really missed the grills – some even said they thought the event worked better as a picnic.
I hope everyone took the appropriate precautions if trying to photograph the partial eclipse on Wednesday night – would hate to be hearing tales of damaged sensors. Where I was the clouds got in the way at the crucial moment, but that’s only to be expected I suppose.
By the time you get this newsletter, the model shoot at Avoncroft Arts Centre should have happened – I am sure it will have been another great event, and thanks to Jenny for organizing it!
You should have seen emails regarding subscriptions for next season, which are now due – but there seems to have been a bit of a glitch and not everyone seems to have got them. If there are no changes in any of the details needed on your membership form, you can just pay the subs without waiting for the form. The price is £61 regular, £56 concession, and you can pay by bank transfer.
You should also have seen an email from Anne regarding prints needed for the Library and Artrix exhibitions.
Finally, a word about the High Street stall next Saturday (August 22). Some newer members may not be aware what this is all about, so a quick summary follows. Every year we rent a stall on Bromsgrove High Street market, which we use to try to publicise the society and reach out to potential new members – it is actually quite a significant source for new people joining. On the stall we will have a selection of prints on display, as well as promotional material and flyers to give away, but most importantly we have a selection of members on hand to talk to potential new recruits about how BPS works and why it might be of interest. The stall runs from around 9:30 to around 3:30. When not chatting to potential new members, we also find it’s a chance to chat, watch the world go by, perhaps even indulge in a bit of street photography. If you think you could spare an hour or so to help out on the stand, then please do drop by – it’s also a perfect opportunity to wear your BPS T-Shirt if you have one!
